Family Dedication

Every child is a gift from God, and Family & Child Dedication is an opportunity to celebrate that gift while making an intentional commitment as a family.

What is Family and Child Dedication?!

Our biblical example of Family and Child Dedication is found in Luke 2:22-32, when Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated to God. Each child is a gift from God. As you dedicate them, you are “giving your children back to the Lord” and entrusting them to His care. Family and Child Dedication is a time for Christ following parents to make a commitment to God, their family, and the rest of the local congregation that they will raise their children in a way that honors God.

This year, we’re doing Family and Child Dedication differently than ever before! Instead of holding it during a regular Sunday morning service, we’re moving it to Saturday so we can create more intentional time for families and parents. During this special gathering, you’ll hear from your Next Gen leaders on your campus as well as your Campus Pastor. Our hope is to make this a more meaningful and engaging experience for you and your family. We’re excited about this change and look forward to partnering with parents as we celebrate and dedicate your child together.

Celebrating Your Family’s Commitment

Every child is a gift from God, and Family & Child Dedication is an opportunity to celebrate that gift while making an intentional commitment as a family.

Following the biblical example found in Luke 2:22–32, dedication is a time for Christ-following parents to commit before God, their family, and their church community to raise their children in a way that honors Him.

At Compel, Family & Child Dedication is about more than a moment on a stage. It’s an opportunity to pause, celebrate this season, and intentionally commit to building a Christ-centered home—with your church family beside you along the way.

What to Expect

Family & Child Dedication is a special Saturday gathering designed to create meaningful time for you and your family.

During the experience, you'll:

  • Hear from your Campus Pastor and Next Gen leaders.
  • Discover practical ways to grow closer to God as a family.
  • Learn how to begin teaching your children about Jesus from an early age.
  • Celebrate alongside other families in the same season of life.

We’re honored to partner with you as you take this important step for your family.

Who Can Participate?

Family & Child Dedication is for children ages 0–7 and their families.

Because dedication represents a parent's commitment to raise their child in a God-honoring, biblical way, at least one parent should be a follower of Christ.

Dedication & Baptism

Child dedication is different from baptism.

At Compel, we believe baptism is a personal decision made by someone who has recognized their need for Jesus, trusted Him as their Savior, and chosen to follow Him. Because a baby or young child may not yet be able to make that decision for themselves, we do not practice infant baptism.

Instead, Family & Child Dedication focuses on the commitment of the parents—and the church community that comes alongside them—as they seek to raise their child to know and follow Jesus.
