About

We believe church should be more than religion and ritual. It should be relevant, authentic, and fun. Our desire is to create a place where you can come as you are, encounter God, and discover what it means to become a passionate follower of Christ.

Why We Exist

We believe that following Jesus changes everything. That is why we want to help people embrace truth, experience freedom, live intentionally, and make a difference.

  • Embrace Truth

We believe that true life is found in knowing God and that a genuine relationship with Him is not only possible, but it’s also what He desires for us more than anything else! Each weekend we provide opportunities for people from every walk of life to grow in relationship with God through relevant teaching from the Bible and meaningful worship.

  • Experience Freedom

We believe life change happens best within the context of meaningful relationships. So we provide opportunities for people to gather in community to find encouragement, support, and freedom.

  • Live Intentionally

God has given each of us unique gifts. When we discover what those gifts are and how we can use and develop them to contribute to the body of Christ, we bring glory to God, value to others, and deep fulfillment to ourselves.

  • Make A Difference

The giving of our time, talent and treasure is the natural expression of worship for a passionate follower of Christ. Once we have experienced freedom and discovered our purpose, it’s time to serve the kingdom of God by giving back!

Our Story

In 2002, Compel began as Life Fellowship Church with just 75 people gathering in a leased storefront. In 2006, we moved into our first permanent location, and God continued to open doors for our church to reach more people and serve our community. What started with 75 people has grown into one church in multiple locations, with campuses across DeSoto County and ministry reaching beyond our local communities. Through every season, our mission has remained the same. We exist to compel the unconvinced to become passionate followers of Christ.

As we look ahead, we believe God is still writing our story. We are passionate about reaching people who are far from God, helping them discover the freedom found in Jesus and equipping them to live out their faith wherever God has placed them. This is our story. And we believe there is still more to come.

Compel Leadership

Leadership

Pastor Patrick Conrad is the Lead Pastor of Compel Church and has served in ministry for more than 30 years. In 2002, he and his wife, Treasa, followed God’s call to plant what began as Life Fellowship Church with just 75 people meeting in a leased storefront. From the beginning, Pastor Patrick has had a passion for reaching people who are far from God and creating a church that is relevant, authentic, and fun. In 2021, Life Fellowship Church became Compel Church, reflecting the mission that has been at the heart of the church since its beginning: to compel the unconvinced to become passionate followers of Christ. Pastor Patrick is passionate about building a church that is relational and spiritually deep, not simply focused on being big. His leadership has helped guide Compel into a growing multisite church with campuses all across DeSoto County and services at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning, Tennessee.

He has a heart for developing leaders, encouraging pastors, and helping churches discover new ways to reach their communities. He regularly shares resources and insight with other church leaders and is passionate about seeing the local church thrive. A native of North Carolina, Pastor Patrick is a graduate of Appalachian State University and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Treasa, have two children, Sydney and Zach. After more than two decades of ministry, Pastor Patrick believes the best is still ahead for Compel and is excited about all that God will continue to do through the church.

What We Believe

It is the full and final authority on all faith matters. It is everything we believe, and it directs everything we do at Compel Church. We believe the two main sections in the Bible (the Old and New Testaments) were given to us by God, and the principles of the Bible shape the way we live. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The person of Jesus was and is totally God. He was fully God and fully human. In His divinity, He was and is equal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. In His humanity, He embraced every human limitation but did not sin. “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God… So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” (John 1:1, 14)

God’s Spirit is a real empowerment in our lives today. The Holy Spirit helps us to live for God every day. The Holy Spirit connects people to Christ, and he equips Christ followers to grow spiritually and to share Christ with people who do not know Him. “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts 10:28)

Every person needs and can have a relationship with God. A new relationship with God is totally a work of grace, through faith. It cannot be improved on through our obedience, nor should it be taken lightly and used as an excuse to sin more. “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:22-23)

The church is God’s idea and is the hope of the world. God’s church is expressed globally and locally. His church exists for worship, connection, outreach, growth, and ministry. “For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6)
